Born in Florida, James Griffin is the program manager of the foundation. After completing his studies in political science at the University of Florida in 1993, he spent several years working in the United States Congress, the German Bundestag, and the German Embassy in Washington before moving to Berlin to join the foundation staff in 2002. From 2003 to 2008, he managed the Humboldt Institution on Transatlantic Issues at Humboldt-Universität in Berlin. He returned to the Checkpoint Charlie Foundation in 2010. He holds a master’s degree in International Relations from American University.
